Default 1.6 NA Tachometer

Hey guys I have searched the forum and cant find a thread on installing a tachometer, I am looking for an easy way and it dosn't have to be super accurate (ie. alternator driven). Also does the alternator my car is equipped with (90 jetta 1.6 NA) have a terminal I can use to obtain a tachometer signal?
Sorry long post Thanks

Default Tach

Piece of cake ... at least with my 1981 diesel 1.6L pickup.
All that is needed is, of course a tach. from the gasser .... and an alternator that has the 'W' terminal. ALong with the Dakota DSL converter, which I found a used one on ebay for $15.00, and the ability to access the mylar sheet behind my instrument cluster. Not sure what is behind yours.
Plus wiring to connect to everything of course.
Was real apprehensive at first, but followed 4Crawler's guide, and worked perfectly.
Getting about 8-900 rpm with idle, and goes up from there.

I know this thread is pretty old, but can you link 4Crawler's guide for this tach mod? Thanks
