Circuit Description
The engine control module (ECM) uses commanded fuel pump flow to determine a desired fuel rail pressure (FRP). The actual fuel pressure is monitored using the FRP sensor. If the FRP sensor indicates a pressure more than 20 MPa greater than desired, DTC P0089 will set.

Conditions for Running the DTC
• DTCs P0192, P0193, or P0641 are not set.

• The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
• The difference between actual and desired FRP is more than 20 MPa.

• Commanded fuel pump flow is 100 mm³/second or less.

basically u have 4 choices
1. wiring
2. ecm
3.fuel rail pressure sensor
4.fuel pressure regulator

I have been running Lucas Fuel treatment in it for the last couple tanks and i cleared the code after the first tank because the the motor surge that had started to show up when slowing down ,befor the fuel treatment, had went away. Knock on wood it has stayed off.
