I have a suggestion...
Wouldnt smaller LED lights look better?
Have you ever seen these? http://www.autometer.com/cat_mountsd...54&mid=11&pg=0
I think you could angle the guages toward the driver so you can see them better. Just a couple of suggestions.

i see what you are saying, i do drive with seat all the way back, was trying not to make a simple thing too complicated
