Default again...

I got the flex plate for my 6.9 a few weeks ago and the deminsons are 14.23 od, crank measures at 1.75 and its a 164 teeth. I got the motor out yesterday I cecked if the flex plate if it will fit. And welll it didn't. The crank on the motor measure 2 and a eighth, and my flex plate was a little smaller than the fly wheel. No one in town or any of are suppliers seem to get one that I can find. I called the local napa and they said there's one for a 94-97 that measure's 2 and 1/8 at crank 155 teeth and 15 1/4 od of it, but they can't get. What should I do I'm trying to adapt my e-40d to. I really need some advice, anyone???

I think they sold you wrong flex plate. I have a 6.9 and a 7.3 idi sitting in shop right now
both have 2"1/8 crank I donn't have flex plate but but the solid flywheels are 15 and 3/4 inches or there abouts and 155 or 156 teeth. The 94 to 97 is a power stroke and would not fit anyhow. The flex plate has to be same diamiter and teeth as solid flywheel the starter only sits in one position

Ya i got all that. See the crank is a 9 bolt, and they only can find a 10 bolt pattern or a six bolt. I'mma call one of the wreckin yards on monday that we do work for and see if they can find one. This one item is kickin my *** . The one from the ford dealers in town are 200 bucks but they can't find the specs for me so monday I'll try again

the flywheels/flexplates do have 10 holes, only use 9 bolts.

Hey guys, i'm a newbie off the FTE Forum, I just got done fixin my 1991 F250 with the E40D and had to go to ford to get the damn flexplate, cost me $185 after taxes but went thru 4 flexplates between napa and o'reillys, finally went to ford and apparently its a factory only part. I hope for your wallet's sake this isnt the same for you but i would bet with that E40D it's the same deal. Good Luck!!
