Default truckin question

Almost done with my degree and for whatever reason im thinkin bout just gettin into trucking. The VA has me covered on the money issue, should i decide to buy a truck. IF i were to buy a truck what do you all think about macks Pinnacle? Also whats the diff between an axel forward and back? Im not a truck guru, but i know a few guys that drive and they said they havent heard anything bad about em? Any input or constructive critsim much appreciated!!!

i have a mack vision now and i like it. dont know much about the pinnacles but i know macks and they are a good truck.

are there any little quirks i should know about macks? also whats the dif between axel forward and axel back? I looked online (maybe not hard enough) and I couldnt find anything to tell me the diff.

Mack did have problems on their early MP-8 engine. They would push out injector cups and supposedly the vgt turbos would soot up. I heard they fixed those problems on later engines but i'm not for sure.

axle forward and back would be where the axle is positioned. the farther back under the cab for example the tighter teh truck will turn if it is out forward like a kenworth w900 or 379 pete they dont turn as sharp. we have all macks at work and there a tough truck. we have 4 of the new mp8 engines and they are ok. one has been in the shop for 9 months because the local mack garage has no idea what is wrong with it. the turbo problem is lack of maintence of the shop. they have what is called a 7th injector that should be cleaned every other pm but it gets forgotten. ours are RD models are you looking to get a auto or manual. if i were you i would look into getting a Mack Titan with the MP10 they look bad *** IMO

As far as trans go, not a clue yet still need to research on the website you could get em with a bunch of diff types of trans, and i sont know what would be the best yet. I looked at macks website and those do look badass, but they dont look like good OTR trucks, maybe im completey wrong and they are but, on Macks website none of em had sleepers. So I assumed they werent designed to do OTR.

The Eaton Fuller UltraShift PLUS VCS is a great Transmission set Up
It is a manual trans that is shifted by a computer it uses Air to engage clutch and shift! unless your a purist and want to shift hear is a link to the web site for transmission info. UltraShift PLUS VCS

I am also a big fan of the Mack as-well! Absolutely the Strongest Truck out there! They are still using them for some of the heaviest loads on and off the road. Just my opinion tho!

Semper Fi! I heard a guys arm and shoulder can take a beating from alot of years of shiftin, therefore a computer doing the job would be nice!

i may be wrong but i would say for a OTR truck you would want the axle set forward. The module trucks ive driven had set back axles to turn sharper like said above but they also rode rougher. Like i said i may be wrong but thats my experiance.

Also the auto-shifts are sweet with the right axle set-ups
