Default 4gsk and fuel shutoff selinoid troubleshooting help

well tonight i decided to tackle my 4gsk job and i ran into a few problems once finished to start off i noticed that when taking off my fuel shutoff the rubber boot was in very poor condition but figure it would hold til i can order a new one i completed the gov spring swap with one being adjusted to .055 and .060 of an inch but the directions said .040-.050 but that was as close as i could get but i dont forsee that being the problem. i began putting the fuel shutoff back on and the boot ripped the rest off the way off. now that everything is together the truck wont start unless i pick up on the plunger and by the time i get around to the cab it must fall back down again cus the truck shuts off. now my question is first is the boot responsible for this problem the selinod looked in good shape besides the boot even though a have a new spare fuel shut off but the boot is torn on that one as well. secondly is a thousands of an inch tighter on the gov spring going to make a diffrence?

the plunger needs to suck up so the arm lever needs to be up. try taking the solenoid off and pull it up manually just to make sure they truck is running, then get out a volt meter. you need 12v+ ignition cranking power. the 2nd power wire needs ot have i believe at least 7+V key power to keep it up. and make sure your ground is good. if all of those are correct your solenoid is probably bad

up when running. put a pull cable on it and be done with it.

the little electronic cumtroler could have gone out or got damaged i had this problem i just wired it to a togle switch i like that better plus you can use that as a security device. what it sounds like happened is your not getting enough power to keep it held up cause it needs constant power to keep the lever up.

Mine done this when i installed my 3gsk. The boot on mine got wrapped around the spring and wouldnt allow it to go up unless i manually done it. So i took the solenoid off and cleaned it with brake cleaner and then went to wal-mart and bout a bicycle tire innertube. i cut a small piece and used tie straps to attach it to the solenoid. Installed it back on the truck and it worked perfectly. Hope this helps
