stack in a tool box
I put mine behind my toolbox to lose less bed space. Its really trick to put them through the box, but I think the only realistic way to do it is if you have one of those delta boxes with 2 doors that open to the sides unless you totally redid your box so it hinges 7" from the front of the box.
i was thinking the same but just cut the corner of the tool box out where the stack is. this is on a delta with the dual side covers. so you would pretty much just loose the corner of the lid and it would still close and open the same. its hard to describe

I custom built a little stack box with kinda a half assed tool box built in. Its only good for chains and what not but it works pretty good. You could build one like mine just bigger. il post picks soon as i can take some.
how ever big you go make your tool box have a seperate box for the stack then the normal tool box on the other side, just make sure the wall between the stack box and tool box is somewhat thick
I had someone at the TS outlaw event look at my hood stack kit. He asked me what I thought about him using the set up in his hard tonneau cover. It could work well for that...and I would imagine it could work in the tool box as well. With our hood stack kit, you can easily pull the stack out of the mount ring and stack basket. You'd be pulling the stack in an out everytime you had to get into the tool box...but it would work.
