Default Looking at a Duramax

I am looking at a 02 GMC with a Duramax for my wife to drive. It is a crew cab 2500hd 4x4 with just under 200k on it. The injectors have just been changed and the truck is in really good shape. I could pick it up for $10,000 and a piece of crap 98 Pontiac van that I am tired of fixing. What I was wanting to know is what problems do the 02 have and how often they have them.

I would ask about the waterpump they like to go out around 200K and headgaskets like go but the injectors and waterpump is most likely to go. I had to do both on my 01 duramax with 192K but still runs like a champ! I am probably selling mine but I still love it to death

I got a 01 Dmax with about 134,000 on it and so far no problems that i wasn't asking for... I have been keeping an eye on my injectors, but so far no problem and yours are already changed out, so you should be ok... I love my truck... Although i've got a buddy with about 230,000 on his and has had the injectors changed 3 times and he's looking at doing them again...

I have a 04 2500hd 4x4 with 180,000 and still going stong. replace the water pump and the glowplugs but no injectors as of yet. i bought mine for $14,000 two years ago and the best part is that I get 20-22MPG always. i have this and a suburban and my truck gets better milage. i can gurantee that your wife will love it.

I'm sure she will love being out of a mini van and back in a truck. From everything I have read they are not problematic and not terribly expensive to maintenance if you can wrench on them your self which I can do. I have only owned 6,5's and anything that breaks on them I can fix but a duramax is new to me.
