Default Painting interior plastic

Well I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right section or not so mods feel free to move it to wherever you think it will get the most hits.

Anyway I want to convert my interior over from the tan color it is now to black and charchoal grey as I think it would better match my truck and make it stand out.

I'm no genius with paint though.

I'd assume to paint my interior plastic I'm going to need to sand it all down smooth, then use some kind of primer, paint, then clear? or would I even need clear as it will be inside?

Just looking for advice and pictures if anyones ever done it.

Thanks.

IIRC, Geno's Garage has factory paint, as well as your local Dodge dealer. But, your auto parts or hardware store should carry interior rattle can paint in all sorts of colors. I don't think you'd need to do any prep, just run some kind of thinner or mineral spirits, acetone or rubbing alcohol over it to make sure there's no grease or dirt.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!

There is a company called VHT. They sell special plastic paints which work really good. They call it dye, because it goes into the surface. So a scratch wont destroy the surface.
No sanding needed-But it is necessary to clean the surface pretty good!
They sell the cleaner too. Even a trace of silicone messes up everything.

Try it at an hidden space first to check the results.

here is the link:

Cool, I really wnat to go all charchoal grey on the interior I think with black carpet and headliners.

Then grey/black racing styl seats.

Wil be a while on the carpet and seats might start converting over to the dark charchoal grey plastic soon though.
