Default letter in vin to decode paint color?
tryin to find the color name of the red that my truck is painted, its stock paint job just need to fill in a few chips. its a 96 im assuming its a pretty common color any idea as to what color red its called

it would probaly be better to go to a paint shop and have them use their little color matching tool. It scans the paint and it allows them to match it closer to the faded paint.

under the hood there is a tag on that tag the paint codes are on it
on the hood itself

does anyone know what the red color is refered to like is it mack red or crimson red or what?

not sure, but auto zone sells small scratch and chip repair paint pens. they come in manufacturer colors
