I was lookin at a big truck salvage outfit online in Britan the other day and they had a long engine list and there was a om616 cdi in it, I wonder if these have an electronic pump--and direct injection?

 

No such thing. The only electrical items ever on an OM616 are the glowplugs, alternator, starter, coolant temperature gauge sender and an EGR.

 

I love the Gurkha, but that BALWAN-500 4X4 TRACTOR with the DIRECT INJECTION OM 616 sounds really interesting!

 

Too bad nothing like that exists.

 

I had two of them over the last 10 years and they were wonderful, reliable and everything you'd ever want.
Sold them both for a couple grands more than I paid for them and they're in HUGE demand for insiders who know of them !!
I regret selling the last one so I am looking again !!!

 

Please note that "common rail" and "direct injection" are not the same thing. There was a factory OM602 direction injection motor but it was not common rail. I suspect the same is true of the rare 616 mentioned.
