Bio Diesel-2008 Dodge Ram 2500?
I own a 2008 Dodge Ram with a 6.7 cummins. I live in Oregon and have a few places here that are selling B20 and B99. Is Bio Dieseld safe for me to run in my truck? I would really like to run it! Will my local Dodge dealer know I am using it if for some reason I need to take it in to have something fixed. My truck is still under warranty still. Thanks
Dodge actually cant do anything to your warranty if you run a B20 or lower blend. Check out biodiesel.org for more info on anything biodiesel. Dodge warranties B20 and lower blends on anything after a model year 2002.
just keep a spare filter with you, I can't imagine on an 08 truck having much crud in the tank yet, but if it is there the bio will break it up and you could plug a filter quick. I ran a tank last tank of 10% and noticed a smoother running motor.
Dodge only approves B-5, B-20 is only approved for Commercial/Fleet and Military use as they are set up to take care of/better handle the water content in Bio, this is what I have been told by 2 Dodge dealers. If you get caught with B20 under warranty I hope you are at a dealer who does not care if its B5 or B20 as some look at it as away to make $$$$$$.
Cummins B20 B20 Approval is for 2002 and later emissions-compliant On-Highway ISX, ISM, ISL, ISC and ISB engines. B20 is also approved for Off-Highway engines including: QSX, QSM, QSL, QSC, QSB6.7, QSB4.5, QSM Marine, QSM G-Drive. All 2010 Cummins engines will be B20 compliant.
This came directly from the national biodiesel board. They are the "gods" of biodiesel and everything related to it.
