Default OOPS ...Gasoline In My Diesel Fuel

accidentally mixed gasoline with my diesel. What can I do?

One percent or less gasoline will lower the flash point of a gasoline/diesel fuel blend below the specification minimum for diesel fuel. This will not affect the fuel's engine performance, but it will make the fuel more hazardous to handle. Larger amounts of gasoline will lower the viscosity and/or cetane number of the blend below the specification minimums for diesel fuel. These changes can degrade combustion and increase wear.
The best course of action is to recycle gasoline-contaminated diesel fuel back to your supplier. People ask if they can correct the problem by adding more diesel fuel to the blend. Usually the answer is no; the amount of additional diesel fuel needed to bring the flash point on test is impractically large. Those who try dilution should have the blend checked by a laboratory before use to be sure it meets specifications.

I though that you actually did this, not just a tech write up. Good to know though.

Sniff the nozzel. You crack me up....

My wife works for the state and she told me of an incident that occurred several months ago. A person of the "blonde" female persuasion had a state car and had topped the tank before returning it. She got a call 2 days later, stating there was a problem with the car and they needed to talk with her. Turns out, she had topped the tank with Diesel. She stated that the pumps out front were busy, so she drove around back of the station and found one that no one was using.

The state is apparently deducting $4000.00 from her pay to cover the damages.

i actually did this quite by accident also ... gas pump had wrong handle on it .... old one broke and they were trying to make it usable...... 3 gallons in 20 ....... i ended up adding 6gallons of good used motor oil .... it ran ok but not great... took a few tanks to run that crap out all the way .... now its ok ......oil will slow the burn back down ..... sometimes ya have to use an impractical amount .... but it will work..
