Cat on a 96?
Did the 96 2500's and 3500's come from the factory with a cat?
I found one place that said they did, but can not find one anywhere. The DMV said I have to have all the emission crap on there when it gets inspected to be switched to a diesel.

according to the following link:
Dodge Ram Diesel Engine Evolution
The 1994 "Killer B" diesel (begins January 1 1994):
1994 models built from July 1993 to January 1, 1994 DO NOT have catalytic converters.
Catalytic converter added after Jan 1, 1994
The 1998 ISB diesel:
The EGR valve (CA) and catalytic converter are eliminated.

are they actually giving it the rectal probe when they inspect it? How often are inspections? I'd probably put one on there just to make them happy then take it off and when you get pulled over by a ******** cop argue that '96s didn't have cats.
No, just a one time visual inspection done by a DMV officer to get the registration changed from gas to diesel.
