Default MPG?

Hey guys i posted this question the other day got a few responses but not alot and this is really buggin me. I have a 94 idi with an ats turbo ram air and two flats on the pump. The truck is a crew cab long bed 4x4 with an auto tranny 33in tires it has 204,xxx miles. Im not sure what gears are in it but at 65 its runnin about 1800 rpm. As best i can figure its only gettin about 12 mpg with no load and almost all highway drivin! The truck was my grandads before i got it so i know its been pretty well taken care of I just cant figure it out please help this sh*tty mileage is killin me with as much as i drive!

The only thing I can think of is its either the tires or the 2 flats. Or a combination of both. Depends on how built the motor is.

Yeah. The pump. 1 flat is fine on the pump. Turn the pump down 1 flat.

thanks for the input guys only prob is it got the same damn mileage before i turned the pump up. i think the prob may be deeper in the fuel system could it be holding air somewhere and that be f*ckin with everything? my tanks wont fill all the way no matter what i try if both tanks are flat empty it will only take about 12 in the front and 9 in the back but reads full then runs out still showin a quarter!! startin to wear me out damnit!!

A common problem with these trucks is the pickups in the tanks break off causing you to run out of gas before the tank is empty. What condition is the IP and injectors in? Are they original?

The tanks on these trucks should be about 16 gallons each. I usually fill up when the tanks are about 1/4 full and have to put 12-14 gallons in each one.

ok thanks that makes sense! im an idiot i just jumped into what could be really wrong with my truck to cause it to get such bad fuel mileage without checkin the obvious sh*t first! Got to messin with it earlier and the air filter was completly stopped up! I guess where the cold air intake was mouted at the hood all the little stuff that slide past the bug deflector was gettin sucked through. so am about to go get a new filter i also made a new cold air tube that runs down next to the core support and picks up air through the hole by the headlight and made a good screen cover for it! now as soon as i run the tanks down ill check those tubes any advice there? thanks for all your help!!!!!!!

if the pickup filter cover breaks off a hangs on the float like mine did you get weird levels on gauges. front tank should be 19 gallons and back tank 16 -19 depending on year.
