Exclamation Best mods

Hey guys,

got my first diesel in October and I'm looking to do some mods now that it's spring. Looking at intake, exaust, chip and maybe a fuel pump. I've got an 06 Sierra 3500 with the duramax and an allison tranny. I'm not worried about too much more power but want to increase fuel efficiency as I tow alot and drive even more. Any recommendations on the best bang for your buck mods? An the best brands to be using for them?

Cheers

Did you notice a difference in fuel economy too? Or was that just alot more boost and hp?

I'd say that for a duramax, do a intake, exhaust, EFI LIVE, Lift pump(fass or airdog), and a few things to cool egts (ex. MBRP or DiamondEye downpipe, afe intercooler tube, BD manifold). Good luck and welcome to the diesel community

PS- Might want to look into a Torque converter and Shift kit too....

The best things for the Dmax are tuner and exhaust, the intake will show some benefits also. The BD manifold is more for convenience than performance. If you have any questions on your Dmax let me know.

LBZ intake is supposed to be good for a lot of flow. exhaust gauges and programmer. maybe shift kit and TC if you wanna go crazy with it. I've heard good things about the edge mileage modules. a good mileage EFI live tune will do a lot too. Other options are a performance edge or ppe.

I have the same truck as you have.
Tried many of the mods with alot of disapointment.I bought a cold air intake and ended up going back to stock one and and modifying it,accually lost milage with the after market one.
Put 4" exhaust from turbo back and didnt see any better milage but lower egt.
Tried the edge and not a lot of gain in milage.

The mods that really made a difference,Banks intercooler and EFI.
with the dsp5 switch on the efi you can have 5 different tunes to have best of everything.

Rochow Check out MPL motorsports In Lacombe, Ted is a pretty nice guy and knows quite a bit about the Duramax MPL - Products

I would do a 4" turbo back exhaust, the PPE intake mod, any kind of transmission upgrade and either PPE or EFI tuner
