Default Rear axle hub problems...

I've got a 8lug rear end on the 2500HD... I noticed some gear oil leaking onto the rim and slingin onto the truck... well, i thought it was the hub seal... WELLL, not exactly, it was loose axle bolts (attaching the axle to the hub)... everyone of them i took off by hand - no tools... big problem... well, i noticed also that the outer bearing in the hub was missing some bearings and had left pieces of metal in the hub/oil...

So, this leads to the problem... There is a retaining ring inside the hub that holds this outer bearing in place... It WON'T budge... I've bent pliers tryin to remove this ring... Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas how to get that joker out so i can relpace this bearing???

I got it out and relpaced... The race was wedged tight against the ring keeping it from being removable... I pressed the race in a little and got the ring out... once the ring was out a hammer and screwdriver finished the job... Hope someone else can use this info...
