Default '99 7.3l won't crank

Hi Guy's I'm having problem's with my 7.3 not cranking with the ignition key . With the key on I can jump it on the starter solenoid and start's like normal . I've checked fuses and changed the starter solenoid with no effect . Anywhere else I can look for a problem ?

I have the same problem sometimes. Turn the key and just a tick, but I can jump it on the solenoid. Hasnt happened lately though. Curious to see what people have to say.

pull the steering column apart and check your 12v supply to ignition. if you have 12v then jump 12v supply to your starter solenoid feed wire, if it starts the replace the ignition switch if it doesnt you have an open circuit from your ignition switch to solenoid. if you raise and lower the steering wheel alot then chances are you have a broken wire in column due to continuous flexing

You didn't say whether it is an automatic or standard. If it is automatic there is a neutral safety switch that can be bad and if it is a standard it has a clutch interlock switch.

you can disconnect the clutch switch and stick a paper clip between the two terminals to check it

Hi Guy's thanks for the help . The problem ended up being the tranny MLP sensor was NFG , it had taken on water and was corroded inside .
