Default How do Cummins compare to Duramax and Powerstroke ?

I'm new to this whole diesel seen....... What years are the best years for the Cummins ? How durable are Cummins and how long do they last ( like how many miles before they need a rebuild on average ) ? How does a Cummins match up against a Duramax or Powerstroke ?

i love my cummins almost 300,000 on it a 1st gen i wouldnt trade it for a chevy or a ford but theres hardcore ford and chevy guys out there that would say the same thing so i think its totally up to the individual and your own likes and dislikes and in my opinion [ you know opinions are like a$$ holes everybody has one] i think the more you bomb one or turn it up the further your rebuild average time falls because the hotter and faster it runs also means the faster it wears out theres my opinion

Ford claims the powerstroke diesel will average 250,000 miles before a rebuild.
Chevy claims the Duramax diesel will average 250,000 miles before a rebuild.
Dodge claims the Cummins will average 350,000 miles before a rebuild.

and there's alot of guys out there in each category that have went way way way over the average rebuild time and their engines are still running strong, however the cummins is the only one out there with a lot of members in the million mile club

Like he said. Plus you always hear of guys swapping in a Cummins into their Ford and Chevy trucks (or a hundred other things for that matter). How many guys have you heard swapping a PowerStroke or Duramax into their Dodge?
