235 at the flywheel, which translates to about 188 at the rear wheels with an automatic (80%) or 211.5 with a manual (90%)

215-225hp@3000rpm and 425-480ft-lbs@2000rpm stock.

A couple places say 425 torque and others say closer to 500. They had a power increase that year. In 1999 the 7.3L went up to 250hp and 500ft-lbs.

With a Banks stinger chip 4 years ago my 96, with stock injectors, and a Tymar intake, and stacks, was 189 hp and 435 tq at the rears with 215,000 miles on it.

The 225hp number on the valve cover is the rated HP at the flywheel without the gear loss of a tranny or rear axle and rolling resistance of the tires and other moving parts.
