I have the normal cummins valve rattle. but when I let off the throttle it is a really loud rattling. you can hear it over the radio its always when the rpm's are dropping AND WHEN THE RUCK IDLES AFTER ITS WARM. the noise is comeing from the valves.The dodge dealer tryed to tell me that " that the way it was made". well there not a dodge dealer anymore. I am ready to send this truck down the road. what do you guys think?

 

check the valve lash............010 intake and .015 on exhaust

 

Have another dealer take a look at it.

 

a 5.9 is fairly bullett proof.i sure would try another dealer.how many miles do you have on the motor.

 

You should hear my truck rattle!
But i like it, especially when at a red light and people roll up their windows.

 

drive up windows are a bitch heheheheeee

 

27k no other real issues just a turbo at 8k miles

yes they are i have been told my truck is the loudest truck ever

 

might be your injectors.. Hows your oil level? does it smell like fuel? wat happend to your first turbo? diesel fuel will eat a turbo before anyhthing.
