Default 2001 cummins low power!!!

I am currently working on a 2001 cummins for a friend and he has been trying to set it up as a pull truck. He has a few things done to it and they are as follows...

200HP injectors (not sure of brand)
inter cooler and banks high ram intake with AFE air box no filter just a screen.
High tech turbo 64/71/13 is what we were told is on there
Quadzilla Adrenaline
Smarty SO3
some kind of aftermarket VP44
FASS fuel sysytem
EGT, fuel pressure, and boost gauge

The problems we are having is high EGT's like 1200-1250 at cruising at 55mph
LOTS or should I say TONS of pure black smoke
What sounds like a timing issue. the exhaust kinda cracks when on it.
and not a lot of power it is really a dog even at 50 pounds of boost.
EGTS will run up to and above if allowed to 1600 degrees Fahrenheit

We have removed the quad box not change and noticed insice the resitor looked fried. Also any of the setting did not seem to change anything so that is not hooked up right now.
The smarty was turned up to 9 but tried that at stock and level 8 thinking it was getting too much timing no noticeable difference.

That is all I can think of now does anyone have any ideas?

P.S. It is slow as you know what

I would do a system pressure check..............amazing what you hear when the motor is off

well did a system check and no leaks holds pressure well.

Still scratching head on this thing???

Also we set the smarty to the lowest level which is 1/2 power and we lost boost but not mush black and some EGTS like 100 degrees

I would rid both boxes and see how she does.

another thought would be to check the MAP sensor...................if its wacked out then that could do this

Well we are still trying to figure it out we took off the intake and looked for any blockages and none found we are really scratching our heads on this.

Where are you measuring boost? It really sounds like you have an obstruction somewhere. The only time I had a similar issue was when I lost an intercooler boot. Different issue I know, but exact same results: high EGT's, tons of smoke and no guts. Good luck.

We are checking on the intake elbow and plugged back in the quad box and the map sensor is reading the same as the gauge.

Checked the intake elbow, and nothing... That was wishful thinking, at least I was able to put the right length studs in the right places unlike the original installer...

Been messing with Smarty tunes more. SW1(fuel saver) which yielded good results, which I believe is timing only.. EGTs were more tolerable at cruise (700-800 degrees), the truck is the quickest it has been yet, and it even Idles smoother... I almost forgot, less smoke too!

So now I wonder if the VP is a tooth retarded? Would that explain everything?
