1992 f350 7.3 won't start
I have a problem starting my truck. The truck is getting fuel. We've replaced the fuel injector pump and still nothing. I'm getting very frustrated. I don't know where else to look. It cranks but doesn't not start.

Hows the oil check oil leve and when was the last time it was changed the injectors are fired by the hpop high press oil pump and if the oil level is low the pump cant feed correct pressure to hydraulicly fire the injectors also if the oil has broken down due to high mileage on LOF change then the hpop cannot pressurize the system properly either i would start there checking oil possibly canging it with new oil and filter and also if it hasnt been done change the fuel filter too while you are at it . see if these things help or not good luck

if its on a 02' then you dont have an injector pump. you have a fuel pump, but otherwise the 7.3's are run by high pressure oil. i agree with blkjack, but if your oil level is right and the quality is good, im thinking maybe you have a sensor issue, possibly cam sensor. there were recalls on these.

If you have good fuel to the pump, you might want to check the glow plugs first to make sure they are heating (if it's short cycling the "wait to start" then a glow plug is probably bad and that will usually make it start hard). Next, you might want to check the connections to the shut off solenoid and maybe even check the solenoid itself. After that, check for any leaks...those pumps don't like any air in the system. Aside from those, I'd say water or air in the fuel, or bad injectors.
Did you change the filter recently? Might want to check the filter if you haven't, and make sure to fill it with fresh fuel before you install it...if not, then you'll crank for ages to fill it.

Also, just saw that you replaced the IP recently. Is the timing right? Did you crack the lines and bleed fuel through all the injection lines?

The title says "1992..7.3" which is an IDI (if it's the still the original motor), which means NO high pressure oil pump...it has a rotary Stanadyne injection pump.
If you have good fuel to the pump, you might want to check the glow plugs first to make sure they are heating (if it's short cycling the "wait to start" then a glow plug is probably bad and that will usually make it start hard). Next, you might want to check the connections to the shut off solenoid and maybe even check the solenoid itself. After that, check for any leaks...those pumps don't like any air in the system. Aside from those, I'd say water or air in the fuel, or bad injectors.

You're sure it's getting fuel from the lift pump, does it try to fire up? Or does it just crank over and over. P.S. Good glow plugs will have 2 ohms or less when cold, resistance jumps when they go bad.

O, I forgot to say check all eight glow plugs, the solid state controller uses resistance to sence their heat and will not work properly if one or two are bad... (All eight of them and a relay yesterday in my truck)
