super singles
I see many truck /camper type conversions that came with duellies changed to super singles (I think thats the term) better for plowing ect where can you get purchacing info on these tire rim combos.
They are a bit stiff but thats to be expected, they will get me over 100k miles outa them so they justify the cost easily, the heavy payload is why I bought em though
.....tricky question
The tire is 35" tall so yes it does effect gear ratio................I had 3:55 gearing and run the 6 speed manual so when cruzing empty my RPM is down compared to regular tires and also whn I tow heavy I run 5th gear and that keeps my RPM up and works very very well...............overall the weight of the tire rim combo is 172 lbs so they are very heavy but I see my milage still running 20-21 on a regular basis so the end result is the extra weight is compensated by the taller tire and its a wash in the end
May I help?
To calculate the ideal cruising speed you need:
- the max. torque and its speed example: 650ft.-lbsat 1600rpm
- tire diameter : 30"
- gear ratio of the highest gear : 0.71
- gear ratio of the rear end : 3.73
- constant to get rev's per hour : 336
ideal cruising speed =RPM x tire diameter/gear ratio x336
at our example: 1600 x 30/(.71 x 3.73 x 336)= 53.94mph
you can neglect tire weight, important is tire diameter
Remember: above 55mph areodynamic drag grows strong.
With that calculation you can calculate best efficency. By comparing stock and modification you can see if it is better or worse than the stock combo.
Hope this helps. Michael

Thank you, I use this formula a lot to get better mileage
I forgot to mention, since torque is maximum at this speed and rpm- towing performance is also best here.
