Can you still change a tire using good old tire irons? I know alot of people carry a spare tire mounted on a rim, and just a spare tire on the trails. But can you use tire irons to change tires still or do you have to have bead locks? And how do you do it? I would like to know this skill?

as far as using a tire iron, id use it then get to a local shop to make sure its torqued down to the right torsion. but as far as a bead, just spray something flammable and light it. theres tons of videos on youtube about it.

 

Hell yea tire irons a the only dependable tire I have found A little bit of practice and there almost as quick as a machine

You talking tire Irons or Lug wrenches? I still break down all my own tires with a maddox or grubben hoe whatever you want to call it. Have a few really large tire irons for big tires and a few large screw drivers and pry bars to do the smaller ones. Not a hard skill if you have some *** behind you. I do tires from the size of go cart tires to large floatation tires. Been doing them since I was little. Learned the trade from dad and my uncles due to our lines of work. You have to watch setting beads by spraying starting fluid and that in them because if you use to much you can blow your head off. I've seen beads blow right on past the wheel and catch guys across the chest and head. A good old ratchet strap or a blow tank works. We have one we built that works great. 2" valve and a foot of 2" pipe that is ovalled out on one side welded to a small porta tank. 120 PSI coming out that 2" pipe seats most.
