Default surging under hard throttle?

Hey guys, my truck has recently started surging under hard throttle. Everything I have is in my sig. It only does this when the comp is on. I don't know what my fuel pressure from the air dog is because my pressure gauge took a dump awhile back and I haven't gotten the replacement yet because money is a little tight. What do you guys think my problem could be?

Could be a dirty fuel filter or the VP44 is going. Need to check for codes.

I thought about the filter myself. I ordered a new one but its not here yet. The check engine light came on last night. Does that mean what I hope it doesn't mean? Really can't afford to shell out that kind of cash for a new VP.

Cycle the key 3 times to flash the codes on the odometer.

P1693 is a companion code, nothing to worry about.

Okay there is a new code today. It gave me a P0230. What is this code telling me? The truck runs perfectly with the edge comp turned off. I ordered a new filter and a low pressure light for the air dog last night so hopefully the filter is my issue. According to the Blue Chip website, any issue with the APPS will throw an imediate code for the APPS. My only codes are the 1693, 0253, 0230. Not to mention when I bump the key I can't hear the air dog running. I don't know what's going on. Would a clogged filter cause all of this?
