1993 GMC 6.5td Run Out of Patience
Hello,
I had posted few threads about the problems I was having with leaky valve covers. Well being laid off, I didnt have the extra money to take the truck to my diesel shop here in WA.
Well I had spent 2 days, well I guess more like 14 hours working on the damn thing. I followed the manual, also went and asked the mechanic at the shop for some tips and advice. Remind you before any comments about my mechanical skills, I had none, untill I bought the 6.5td. Well after the long 14 hours I got the valve covers installed with new RTV called " Right Stuff" and it wasn't cheap. Man it was pain in the *** putting them back without disturbing the sealant. After all the sweat, cold rain and bloody knuckles I started her, and after few minutes I noticed some kind of leak. It looks like diesel, or oil I cant tell anymore my senses all screwed up. I went for a drive and there is a leak from the injector itself, but it looks like above the injector its also wet. Both sides of the engine has some sort of leak. I' am so upset to the point of tears that this whole thing just wont go away, and this is after the year of fighting with the mechanics who did the engine install in the first place, and I had to redo everything over anyway, and now this. Sorry for the long thread just wanted to vent out. I have decided to take the truck, to the diesel shop who took care of my IP problem. I dont know how big of a bullet I will catch, but need the truck, because my other car is old and dont know how long it will last. So thanks for listening and hope you guys and girls having better luck this days. And I guess it could be worst, just tired of being broke and unlucky.
