Default common 6.2 problems

I have been checking out some older K5 blazers with the 6.2 for my son. I have noticed several that have the owners claim just need the pump timed or something very simple. Are there any common problems to be aware of? Reading through the threads here seems that lack of fuel through a bad lift pump or air leak is common, as is a bad pump. If it is a bad pump, about howmuch would a rebuilt pump run, with R&R labor by me (hopefully).
thanks

If the owners didn't run them out of fuel, the injector pumps run a long time. Replacing the lift pump is cheap (about $30 for a mechanical and $35-$50 for an electric), but it's time that eats ya. Takes about 2 hours to swap one out. Now the injector pump, they run about $400 for a remand, and you might as well do the injectors at the same time. Looking at a half a day to do the injection pump and injectors. If you do the lift pump, get a blank kit and convert over to electric. Did it to my dad and he only went through two of em in the last 9 years.

welp, found a 83 blazer with a bad starter. They say that the corner of the block where the starter mounts broke while it was being changed out.
ok shape, rebuilt trans for $400.

the truck is 400 bucks. if it is why not get it. thats a lot of spare parts on that blazer you can use. also once you get the injection pump going always run two stroke or something like that as a fule additive because the new ULSD diesel is hell on those old pumps.

true, I just hesitate to add another project to the unfinished pile.
now all I need is a finished pile...........
the owner told me they had priced having the corner welded up for a couple hundred bucks, it does seem to have a lot of potential.
