Default Federal Law? DPF removal

Anyone know the exact federal law or its number so I can look it up.

Everyone always says its against federal law to remove this device and others...

I know its illegal but where is the law I just cant seem to find it or exact wording

I dont have the answer to your question, but its also against federal law to alter any vehicals noise emision devices. Doesnt stop most people from changing there exhaust.

True but this is why you draw attention to yourself if you run straight pipes. Throwing a muffler, even a flow through shows the cops that at least there is one there and that it must be the engine that's loud!

to e honest, they said on powerblaco kthat any turbo'd vehicle doesnt require a muffler (maybe except in calif).. this is b/c the turbo acts as the muffler

So anyone know the law on books regarding emissions on these trucks and altering of it and what not

Texas doesnt require a muffler on a turbo diesel, but federal law states that alterind noise emmision devices is illegal, so technically even an AM muffler isnt legal.

they are stealing convertors and dpf stuff around here. they got mine

yeah i think either a lot of peoples exhaust equipment on these newer emissions controlled diesels either is stolen or just falls off, I have a feeling mine would just fall off due to poor manufacturing on the manufacturers end, if I had an 07.5 and up pickup

yeah i had to replace it with a ss magnaflow. it sure sounds better.

It is Illegal to remove them in every state. It is a federal law that prohibits you from removing them. With that said in 2010....It'll get MUCH worse. Remove at your own risk, Most likely nothing will come out of it, In most states it's illegal to remove any componets of your emmisions system but nothings ever said!
