Thumbs down Upgrades 99 cummins??

I have a 99 cummins with 200,000 miles on it the only upgrade is magnaflow 4 inch from turbo back. I just bought Glowshift gauges to watch my boost, egt, and fuel pressure. My truck has an auto trans so im wondering if i should get a new trans before adding power or try and upgrade the stock trans before adding power. If i was going to add power should i add first? I have been thinking hard about the SMARTY because i live in upstate ny and i like the 3 cyl warm up that that offers. Thanks

Well i haul firewood just in the bed a few times a week. I would like to go for the compound turbo set up and would like to shot for a 500-550 horsepower. I use the truck as a driver but with like to pull at the local fairs

You can get 500 hp with a single and some 150hp injectors. my setup made 488. But if you plan on towing and hauling a set of compounds will do wonders. Do you have an aftermarket lift pump? If not do that upgrade the trans at least billet input, torque converter, a good valvebody. Then start adding power to the truck. The trans with good parts will make a huge difference in the feel of the truck. You can get the high idle for your truck by going to the dealer and reflashing the computer

yea i like the glowshift for the money they are not bad.. make sure to use a isolator on fuel sender they wont hold up to the pulse of the fuel. everything else quad pretty much covered. like he said fuel system first. i wouldnt do a smarty it is better for 3rd gens.

Trans first, that will be the most expensive part. You can go with a Goerend,Suncoast or a DTT trans,Basicly you pick the one that fits your needs,500 hp a billet input and out put shaft, good torque converter.Power Start with A good lift pump Airdog FASS or MITUSA then a power box like a edge or adrenaline then a turbo (single or compound) then injectors a NOS intake or Water Meth Kit.Please give a price quote when you are ready to buy, on the site you will save money this way. Good luck with your build.

Yeah the trans is not going to take 500hp. A lift pump and trans should be first the lift pump over the trans. After both of them are done a edge comp. After that you need to decide if you want single turbo or compounds. Compounds would be cleaner than a single but power is possible either way. I will let you know what I think of my setup when done. my s300 62/71/14 over a (not sure the specs on what is sitting at the shop) with 200hp injectors. The 200's and my single were 532. But I would not use them for towing anything heavy I had to tow my dads 04 home on a goosneck and the egt's can get warm pulling up hills. had to back out not enough air.
