Just Put in a new set of ARP Head studs. Torqued and retorqued 4 times like instructions said. Do these need to be retorqued after the engine has been heated up?

 

yeah run about a week of normal driving and do it again.

 

well I would say easy driving. As "normal" depends on the person. I wouldn't trust my "normal" driving on a new set of studs.

 

The studs don't really tend to stretch or loosen up. Re-torquing is usually saved for when doing rings and giving the rings a chance to seat. When I did my studs I didn't re-torque them until recently and then I took the torque up to 140ft. lbs. Also, I hit 75psi boost within the first week of having them in.

if they held up; that's great... but i'd be abit pedal shy for awhile; atleast until the truck has a good weeks worth of heat cycles and a retorque

 

I installed my ARP studs drove 60 miles and entered a sled pull
8000 miles latter I still haven't re torqued and don't plan to.

 

i guess i'm just cautious; i wouldnt like to make a hobby out of replacing headgaskets so i think i'd do everything nice and gingerly; then put my foot through the floorboard

 

I agree it's not worth the mess I did a week of easy driving no boost over 25psi then had them re-torqued. They moved a lot but then again it was o-ringed too.

 

i torqued mine about 6 times befor i ran it, ran it for close to a week the torqued them straight up to 155ft-lbs, hit 60psi all the time with no issues

 

If I retorque them iguess I need to do them in the right order like the book says? I didn't do anything to the head. Used same head gasket that has only been on that engine for about 6,000 miles just took out one bolt at a time and retightened.
