BFGoodrich Rugged Trail TA vs TA KO's
For those of you who bought Dodge Ram's with the Cummins, equiped with the BFG Rugged Trail TA's, how many miles did you get out of them and how do you think they compare when talking total mileage? The reason being is that a majority of my driving is in town except when we are towing our 8,000 lbs travel trailer. The BFG Rugged Trail TA's have almost 50,000 miles on them. Do you think I will be able to get that kind of mileage out of the TA KO's?
I had the rugged trails on a 3/4 ton chevy that I had and they were awesome tires. I had very good traction in sand and they wore like iron on the street. I would definitely buy them again (if they had larger sizes)!!!
I am about to change my BFG Rugged Trails out as well. I bought my truck used at 36,000 miles, with the stock Rugged Trails on it. I loaded up the truck with my 28' enclosed trailer and moved my household goods at 22,620 lbs and drove from south-east Alabama to Fairbanks, Alaska. I now have over 72,000 miles on these tires.
They are deffinately ready for a swap, but who could ask for a better tread life than that? They were great summer tires, and worked well enough as winter tires to ****** out every person I came across up here that was in the ditch (except for that one van that broke my strap
). I am going with a 285/70-17 BFG TA KO in about a month, before the snow really starts flying again. Probably more for cosmetic reasons than out of looking for a better tire. I'd buy them again if I was strictly driving on pavement (something not always found in the Alaskan Interior) and pulling a trailer. Like Crude Dude said, I wish that they came in a larger size.

About getting that much from TA KO's... On of our pilots up here has them on his GMC 2500, and he did the same trip that I did, from Ft. Rucker, Alabama all the way up here to Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. He has had several different brands on several different heavy-duty trucks, and he says that from here on out, he's going to get the BFG TA KO's. He's gotten 50,000+ miles on two different sets on two different trucks. He pulls a trailer quite often, too (1971 R/T 'Cuba 440, Plum Crazy Purple
) and he swears by them. So, buy them!

I got 50k+ out of mine before I replaced them. They had about 4-5/32nds left on them. They just weren't doing it on the ice & snow here. Personally I'm not a BFG fan. There are far better tires out there.
Mine have 70,000 Kms on them now. I will replace them at between 80 and 90,000 kms, before winter. I haven't decided whether to go with 33" or 35" tires. About 30,000 of the kms were put on the tires pulling an 8,000 lb travel trailer as well as carrying another 1,000 lbs in the box.
