beat 4l80e to NV4500, easy?
Ok, i wanted to rebuild my 4l80e, but i have an option to buy a complete "kit" to change my truck over to 5-speed. How hard is it? What has to change? Will the pedals bolt right up to the firewall? Do i need a whole dash out of a manual 6.5?? How does the slave cylinder function? Will this **** my pcm off? I have always wanted it to be a 5 speed. I have 3.42 rear gears, are the 5 speed gears better than the auto gears? My auto tranny has 206k on it and im sure iot wont last 50 more with all the plowing it does. I dont mind plowing with a stick, done it before, can do it again.... Please let me know!!!!! THe manual tranny has 125k on it and shifts flawlessly.. Will my driveshaft and t-case work with the manual? Is the crossmember different? I heard the 3500 driveshafts lengths are different than the 2500's?? So i would need a 1 ton driveshaft and t-case, or could i use my t-case with a 1 ton driveshaft?... Has anyone done this before? How does the dual mass flywheel work? I heard its bad and best thing is to get a one piece?

sounds like from the other site that using a 97 and up assembly would be better since you dont have to worry about forks. i dont think 1 ton driveshafts would be differnent sizes as long as you get the same driveshaft as your cab configuration. i do know 1 ton have different transfer cases so your driveshaft woundnt work on a 1 ton. what ever type of flywheel the high powered diesel manual trucks are using is what i would want to use.

Something else to check...
I have run across others who have done the auto to manual transplants and they ended up having to change out their EPROM chip also to match the tranny they are using . They start out running fine then start having issues. After they change out the chip the problem clears up since they are auto or manual specific.
