Default 6.2 pump on a 6.5 needs help

I have a 1998 gmc 3500HD and after a few years of pdm and other electrical problems causing my truck to be unreliable, I want to convert my truck to a mechanical pump. What problems will I encounter and what parts will I need? I have already located a 6.2 pump that will be rebuilt to go on a 6.5. It looks as if the thermostat housing will be in the way of the throttle cable. If anyone has done a similar conversion the help would be appreciated.

it is possible and its not too hard but i dont know the exact details. there is a book out there from a guy that did this swap in the 90's but i dont know the title. i do know you need to convert the accerlator pedal from electronic to mechanical linkage. also if you have a manual its a lot easier to do the swap compared to if you got the 4L80E auto tranny.

I have made this conversion on my 96 3500 crew cab no 1 you must aquire inj lines
off the 6.2 the ones on the electronic pump won"t work. Next you must put an after
market cruise control unit on. The linkige I built not to complicated just remember the trans if auto shifts off the reostat on the accl pedal so you must be able to adjust
it thats is why i used a rod instead of cable.

Im not sure that the 94 had the electronic pump I took 23 wires off the system and replaced them with 2 wires just made things a lot simpler except the timing issues I
am having trying to find a timing light.
