Want To Build A Flatbed 2nd Gen Dodge
Since my factory bed is been used and abused pretty bad already and all the body damage on my truck is on the bed one of my long term projects is to make a flatbed for it. The trick here is that I can't go with no bed long enough to pull this one and build another. Once I pull this one I need to have the new one ready to go right back on. So what I'm lookin for here is pictures and or dimensions for rails and anchor points. Schematics for the frame so to speak.
Thanks for the pics, I'll have to look at em on a better monitor then I have here at the house. This old piece a crap shows everything to dark.
Also need a pic of one off a truck that shows all the anchor points. I'd bet there is plans for sale out there someplace but I haven't found em yet.

You should be able to lay out a channel frame with the main rails the same distance appart (out to out)as your frame rails are. dont worry about you mounting points too much until you have the OE bed off, get your flatbed set up above the frame, meybe blocked up on the sides of bed, then just use plate or left over channel to drop down to any availible bolt holes, depending on the truck you may have use crossmember bolts, bolt the brackets to the frame them double check measurments and weld them to the bed. I have done this several times before on both pickups and semi trucks it works pretty good.
Man you can build your bed and "leave off" the frame rails.
When you do your new install, just place the channel iron on the frame, fab new mounting tabs and bolt on using washers behind. and then weld the mounting tabs to the frame rails.
Then just back the truck "under" your new bed, lower, and weld the bed to the frame rails.

a buddy of mine had a 97 srw, took the bed off his old chevy flat bed srw. it looks good, had to make ne mounts, but he had it on in just a day. good luck and take some pics along the way

I'm putting a new flatbed on my 97 3500 and if I can find those for relatively cheap it will make the install a bit easier.
Thanks!!
