amp cuts off

Default amp cuts off

my amp cuts off when the vol is at like 20. its a 4ch JVC amp. i had it hooked up to my door speakers. but i hooked the door speakes up to the cd player an the amp to my subs an it still cuts off when i turn it up past 20. any sug?

is it overheating hot to touch,when does it do it like after long period of time then put it at 20 or just when you put it at 20, might be two little power wire, is it bridged

nope not hot. only when i turn it up past 20. yes its bridged. the wire looks older. an its 8ga i think.

how big of in amp is it, try and unbridge it just hook it +- and see if that helps maybe the bridge part is fryed up or your pushing to big of a sub for the little amp

well that should push the sub thats what i had before try and un bridge it and see if it still does it then im not to sure

Subs could be wired incorrectly...are they wired series or parallel? Dual voice coil or single? Ohms?

It could also be a bad voice coil that is grounding out when you turn it up.

Either way, you need to use a good multimeter and do some investigating.

its not only with the subs. when i had my door speakers wired into the amp it would also cut off when i turned it up past 20
