depends on the pumps... certain years you can get away with it, others the arm that is attatched to the rack can come into contact with the governor fly weights and mess with things, others i've heard of it sticking and causing a run away.... so overall i don't recommend it. plus you get a decent fuel plate you'll be much more please than full fuel the whole time... the plates are designed to set your torque curve. fuel is good but too much too soon will actually cause the engine to bog down.

who ever told you this was wrong ... I have been running plateless for 1.5 years with no issues and there in nothing wrong with running plate less. tune your afc and take the plate out

my mistake; aparently the fuels guru at my college was blowing smoke trying to keep kids from doing it. he said it is possible; but the linkages could come in contact with the governor weights and possibly stick. just going by what i've been told so don't crucify me. but that's exactly it. tune your afc... if you read his sig he's already gutted the afc... just goin by what i know too much fuel at low boost will cause it to bog; that's all

no to my knowledge its not the same yes i do have the afc gutted but the afc is not doing anything since the wastegate on my turbo doesnt run to the afc.

your waste gate never runs to your afc... the afc supply should come off the side of the head... the afc works in correlation to manifold pressure, same as the waste gate; but their boost supplies are totally different

ok so that would still mean that the afc is having no effect on boost correct

your afc doesnt control your boost directly; boost controls your afc which controls your fuel... since fuel does affect boost i cannot say that the afc doesnt have an effect on boost. either way afc and waste gate are on two different circuits... waste gate controls boost through how hard the turbine is pushed. let some exhaust slip by less push= less boost. main point... afc and wastegate control two diffent things. not eachother. a gutted afc will allow for a faster spool as long as it isnt too much fuel and the engine bogs. (i would say more boost but the wastegate will determine boost)
