Default rustoleum and a roller

so i stumbled onto a thread at moparts.com. some crazy sob painted his 69 charger with a roller and thinned rustoleum. then the july issue of hot rod pops up with an article about it. i didn't think much of it at first but these pictures look GOOD. seriously good. i'd suggest reading all 80 some pages if you're eally interested in doing it. lots of good info here. i'm condsidering it.

anybody try this?

yeah rustolium works good!

i used easy poxy on my hull of my boat cuz the paint is harder.
but for the top, deck, cabin. i used all rustolium.

granted it's fiberglass and not steel. but still came out smooth and looks good too.

i just got done reading the article in hot rod. it's a lot of work to get a good finish. they used 7 coats with a 24 hour dry time in between. then wet sanded between every coat then buffed for about a day. they put a lot more into it then the guy on moparts.com did and his pics looked pretty good. looks better than a maaco job that's for sure.

i think most paints will look good if you take your time.
i used spray pain on my bike. i'm not sure how many coats i have on it.
i spent alot of time wet sanding to make it have a nice finish.
so far the only people that know it's spray paint is the ones i have told

i didn't go through that much effort on my boat. i just wanted it to look alright.
after all it's just a work boat.

Now that was interesting. I didn't read all of it but will when I get some time. I am about to repaint a trailer and that might work out really good.

I'm kinda pondering the airless sprayer I have for the house paint using rustoleum, then you could add the hardener to it. I got a stock trailer I'm gonna re-paint and this sounds like something new to try.

I'm painting my tractor body right now just usin the rustoleum spray paint as a quicky job on it. Gettin a little pissy with it. The paint comes out lookin real good but then I put clear coat over it and parts of it start lifting. Then I gotta sand it down and start over. Only happens in spots and only on some pieces. I took the whole thing down to bare metal so I can't figure out what the problem is. Turnin out to be way more of a project then I was lookin for though.

why not use gel coat?
goes on with a roller comes out smooth and it's a really hard paint

thats how most people paint their boats. holds up to salt water being on it.
