Can you tell me the mpg you are getting in the Duramax vs the cummins? I know it depends on your foot. But just all around? I've got the 06 3500 4x4 but am looking at the 07 Duramax. How much of a better truck is the Duramax, or is it?

Neither one is better than the other, it just depends what you want to use it for. I like my Chevy for working out of because of the low ride height and automatic. Once I got the Chevy, I got rid of my 06 Dodge auto and got this Dodge with a manual. The Dodge is pimped out with all the options and is/was intended solely for pulling my camper, hence going back to the manual.
The duramax was getting horrible mileage when new, but got a little better with the edge juice, and a lot better after replacing the cat and muffler with a straight through muffler. Now it can get almost 20 down the highway, I like that. My Dodge surprisingly does well even with the stock emission crap on it, maybe 17-18 on the highway. Only at 7000 miles though too.
Don't believe the hype about Chevy quality, it's just the same as Dodge or Ford. The Chevy interior is going to pot at 36,000 miles, but in all fairness it does get used as my work truck and my Dodge is more or less my weekend warrior/heavy puller. I don't think the Chevy handles heavy loads as well as the Dodge, but it is no slouch and is up to any task the Dodge will do. It just feels like the Dodge is more stable with the weight.
Confused yet?

my 07 classic gets better mileage than my brother-in-law's (3) 04 cummins, 05 cummins and 06 powerstroke. It even gets better mileage than my LLY. But all get better mileage after a little tuner action. The interior in mine is holding together very well. I wish the general used better leather on the seats though.
As far as the first question the classic came in SE, SLE and SLT - SL is stripped down, SLE is cloth interior, SLE is leather and loaded
