I just put a new LP on 98 Suburban, and took it for a test drive..put on about 20km every thing was fine. So had it parked for a couple off weeks, then went for a drive the other day after about 30km into the drive it started too surge..like it was loosing it's fuel going up a hill..once i got on top it seemed too work fine, so i went about another 20km it worked ok. Turned it off at a friends house for about 2 hours, went too start it not a kick.. I can hear the clicking sound in the FP and the LP comes on.. does anyone have some advice on how too get this thing running.

its a Pump Mounted Driver. in stock form it is located on side of injection pump right in the middle of engine which can get very hot. while engine is running the diesel cools it off but after you shut it off it get so hot it fries the PMD and because of this it causes surging no starts and other problems.

also putting the PMD on intake manifold is not an good idea. heat rises so it will fail quicker.you need to relocate it to somewhere outside the egine compartment. inside the front bumper or back bumper. frame rail are also popular places to mount it By the way what is Fp

OK..i should off said IP instead off Fuel Pump.... don't know much about the diesel engines. will it have any fuel pressure with PMD not working..I opened the brass bleeder on the front off the engine, with the key on.. fuel was coming out.. does this mean anything? What's the price for a PMD.

oh i get it. i thought it meant fuel pump but i wasnt sure. no it wouldnt have any fuel pressure because it sounds like your engine isnt running. fuel coming out means the IP works which means you dont need to replace it which is good. you should relocate the PMD out of the engine compartment. Heath PMD Relocaters

The little black box on the intake manifold just above where the IP is located must be the PMD..I'm going too take your advice and move this PMD elsewhere.. thanks for all your help.

yeah your truck has a SS diesel kit that mounts it on the intake manifold. it will actually fail quicker there than on the injection pump

Still waiting for PMD...here's the scoop, I ordered it from AC Del co, it would take 4-5 days for them too get it..then they would ship it too me for $1.75 + tax.. (man a good deal) but that didn't last long....they sent me a LP. So i called them back and apparently they can't get it for me..so i gave the dealer a call..$980 + tax WOW. Now i got one from a guy in Quebec that sells new and used ones with the extra harness, cooler and mounting hardware..for a $1.40 Canadian..with a 30 day warrant..should be here in a couple off days.. Hopefully everything goes alright this time.
