The wifes cousin has just had a bad break up with a psyco girl, his car wouldn't start so he found some crystals around the gas filler area and it is surgar. What will this do and what to do to fix this.The car is a 200X Chevy caviler not sure what engine. Thanks

 

Sugar doesn't dissolve in gas like some believe it does, it stays in granular form. Depending how much she got in the tank, it could had plugged the fuel filter or even the "sock" filter on the pick-up tube for the fuel pump.

 

well its not as sweet as you think it might be......

 

red is correct, i have only found slightly cloudy fuel from sugar. i have done a couple of these. fairly easy other than dropping the tank. i would drain and discard the fuel. flush the tank with water to dissolve the sugar. do the same with the pump but i recommend replacing the pump. also replace the filter and flush the line from the filter to the tank. after draining the water from the tank swab the inner side through the fuel pump hole with paper towels to dry water and final cleaning

i wouldnt go as far as to say that. i have repaired a couple vehicles with the sugar in the tank deal. it just takes cleaning everything out. almost all of it wont pass either the sock or the filter. they can be handled about the same way as any other fuel contamination issue. water/gas etc... had good luck cleaning these, with no major problems.

I would also recommend a locking fuel cap! Worth more when a thief or physco is around!

 

Tell him to check the tires for nails and screws, before he starts to drive- that will be the next "joke" - I know...
