Nissan UD 1200 idles rich
I have a 2000 Nissan UD 1200 delivery truck that runs rich at idle and smokes a lot. I also have fumes in the cab that are real strong. I had the exhaust replaced, which seems fine. There may be a small fuel leak on top of the engine causing some of the cab smell. I'm not real familiar with diesels, but willing to learn. Recently, the fuel shut off actuator stopped working and I have to manually shut the valve to kill the engine. All the fuses are good. It has a 5-pin connector, but I have no schematic to check these pins.
I actually never paid attention, but I believe the valve cover has Nissan on it. I just thought Nissan makes their own engines. I've been doing some research and it may be an injector or pressure regulator issue?? It has 200,000 plus on it, so maybe injectors are wearing?
nope, nissan does not make the diesels
UD originally stood for Uniflow Diesel, from successful Uniflow Scavenging Diesel engine
now it stands for Ultimate Dependability
now owned by volvo group
if you had a fuel leak you would notice lack of power. diesels need hgih pressure. if you have a leak better get it fixed i will get worse fast!
alot of time lines chafe from the dividers come loose and go missing.
also check your manifold, might be cracked or a gasket might be leaking some times the bolts break off might cause a leak

Goatman, I have a pdf for my 2004 UD 1200. Send me an email and I can forward you a copy of the electrical section and the engine fuel delivery section. I'm pretty sure that UD stands for UniDyne and at least the 4 cylinder, 4.75Liter engine in MY 2004 UD1200 WAS made by Nissan.
