Default Low Oil Pressure and White Smoke, 6.9

*sigh* I love my old f350 but dang,

Hopefully someone can shed some light, I have a banks powered 6.9. Runs great, starts great, pulls, well, okay, decent. Suddenly, it started blowing much more smoke than normal and sometimes its white-ish, and sometimes its black. The black was normal, the white is new. Also, the oil pressure started acting funny. It is great at idle when cold but after about 20 mins. it starts really dropping. Like down to the bottom line. It never did that before, always stayed in mid range. The temp still stays really low, bottom 1/4, even when oil pressure starts dropping. (Electric fan) I'm really worried, especially when pulling my camper. It still sounds the same and runs good, just smokes like crazy, especially when first started, huge white cloud. The smokes cuts in about half when it warms up, but the oil pressure is lower. The oil pump is about three or four months old. When the truck is cold, the pressure is about 40 psi. Is that about right? I just installed a manual guage so I can better keep an eye on it. So much for an original restoration

Thanks for any advice.

how many miles are on the engine.....probably time for a rebuild.....does the engine rpm drop or change as the oil pressure drops....

It is the Banks turbo kit. The rpm's do not drop as the pressure drops. Wierd! Running like a champ. The turbo has about 5K and the engine about 40K. I gues it could have been a bad rebuild. The smoke is worse at the initial start then slowly starts turning from white to black. After about 20 minutes of driving really gets much less, along with pressure. Still trying to figure out if oil consumption has gone up. It has always been an oil drinker but I drive it on the interstate quite a bit and tow.

i would throw an oil pump in it just to be safe......if you can drop the pan and raise th engine high enough to do it.......and if the pickup for the oil pump isnt welded to the new oil pump from the factory, put a small tack weld on it so it wont fall out......

I had the low oil thing with my 7.3.... turned out it was the stock gauge in the dash was going bad the motor was fine.. Put on a oil pressure gauge first, the type with the oil feed tube... as for the white smoke... that would lead me to think of water getting into the cylinder some how, bad head gasket?
