The exhaust and CAI are good ways to add a little bit more power and open the engine up to let it breathe more, but i would recommend talking to your dealer to see if any of that would void your warranty, a programmer WILL void your warranty if it is traceable or if you leave it on when you take it in to get work done to it...DONT do that

PPE seems to be a popular choice for the DMAX's on here so you could go with that for your programmer.

For your Intake there is a thread on here that shows how to gut your stock air box and it is just as good as an aftermarket system and alot cheaper(FREE).

For the exhaust take your pick there are too many to list and im sure some of the vendors on here can help you out with that

Here is the posts to the two different Airbox mods. Your LLY Airbox should be more like my LBZ Airbox.

Take the advice and DONT buy a cold air intake. That is a waste of money untill you are upwards of 500-550 rwhp. The stock filter flows and filters better than the aftermarket filters anyways.

A good exhaust will help your enginge breathe better like skkdram said. Its a good investment in my opinion.

There are alot of good programmers out there for the LLY Duramax. The first question to figure out which programmer is right for you is

" Are you ever going to race this truck? Drag racing or Truck Pulls?"

If you answer yes to that, then go ahead and save up some money and get a high end programmer like EFI Live or PPE.

If you answered no, and you just want a little more fuel mileage and a little bit more power, there are plenty of programmers out there. Edge, Bullydog, predator, Edge EZ Module.. there are ALOT of different ones.

It all depends on what you want to do with the truck, and how much money you want to spend.

Good programmer for mild tunes is the Predator but be careful on the higher settings you will limp the tranny.

For higher HP tunes are the PPE or the EFI. You should be more careful with these on a stock tranny for sure.

The exhaust should IMO come before the tuner/programmer. A mild tune and exhaust is going to give you a minimal gain in MPG, you have to decide if it is really worth that.
