I need power
I have a 96 auto and a 96 5 speed. The auto has 270k and the 5speed has 510k. I want a 5 speed, should I use the one I have? Or should I convert the auto to a 5 sp? I want a nasty hard core coal roaling monster. I think I want 500hp at least. And I want to know how to get there. I don’t have a ton of money this is going to be my first car/truck. I want to avoid compound/twin turbos. What do I need to do to get there. I am gonna lift it 6 on 37s maybe 38s idk if they will fit. Want someone’s opinion if possible, thanks.
Have you heard the saying" speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" I did some minor changes to my 95 and quite happy with the power output. I'm not a hard core rolling monster, but when I step on the throttle it moves pretty good. The things I did. 1) Moved my stock fuel plate as far forward as it could. 2) Plugged off the hose that feeds the waste gate valve. 3) Dialed back the boost pressure required to allow the fuel rail to open faster with less boost. 4) Replaced air filter so it draws air from the engine compartment. 5) Use Optlube fuel conditioner.
This has increased my boost pressure to 27 lbs from 21 lbs. The changes I made cost me some time, fuel conditioner and an air filter. You do realize that by putting lots of power in the engine, you will need to upgrade the rest of the drive train to handle the extra power. Think about how much you want to spend and go from there. I have heard that the 5 speed tranny will handle an increase in power better that the automatic tranny. I hope this has helped.
