Sad 3rd generation 24v Cummins fuel return

In chasing down an issue, I removed my starter. In doing so, I broke the plastic end of the main fuel return line from the engine to the tank. Appears that I broke the very end of the plastic fuel (sheathed in rubber) where it connects to the metal line off the banjo bolt. Any ideas on a relatively painless fix with marine grade fuel line and hose clamps? I think I can remove enough components to get to it, but am not sure how to proceed from there. Is the plastic to the metal line connection some king of a quick disconnect? That's what I snapped off with in dealing with the starter. Not enough left to get a hose and clamp over it and have it hold. Not sure of the size of either line. Please let me know of a fix.
