Hi all. I'm new to this forum, and medium and large diesel trucks. I'm looking to build a hauler, starting with a 66 IH C1700 cab and hopefully putting it on a mid-90's-ish chassis with a DT466. I really want to run whatever manual transmission I end up with on the newer chassis. I have no idea how to shift it with a cab forward . Do you think the shifter can be modified enough to work or should I start looking for a different solution? Cablecraft.com looks like they might have a way to do it, but I haven't tried them yet and am a little afraid of what that might cost.
I'm not dead set on the 466- I just think it'd be nice to keep it in the family.
I've thought about a 3500 pickup chassis but I don't think it'd look right with the small pickup rims/tires.
