Air in fuel lines or bad cp3
I have a 2003 3500 duramax and it just randomly went dead at a stop sign and would not start back. Got it to the house and primed it and it started for about 3 seconds and quit. I had just replaced the o-rings on the fuel filter housing about 6 months prior but I went ahead and did it again anyways and replaced the fuel filter as well. Didn't help. Could it be the cp3 or fuel pressure regulator? Acts like it's getting air in the line but if that was the case wouldn't the primer bulb have less resistance?

Likely FPR. How many miles on your rig? My dad had the same issues about 4 months ago. At the time, he had a tad over 264k miles on his duramax. He replaced the FPR and all was well in the universe again. Strangely, I replaced my FPR at 171k, with roughly the same symptoms..... and my rig is an 06 dodge cummins...........go figure.
