Can't answer that ? There not out yet. I haven't found much info on them either. My understanding is the only difference is they put out more power and there common rail injected.

Apparently, I'm hearing different stories from different sites and different dealers. "They" claim that they are out and for sale, yet I have not seen one, nor have I ever had the opportunity to test drive one.

Hey Buck,

Any idea on maintainability and economy? If it is like all other brands it would seem the economy will be in the toilet with real world conditions. Any truth to that?

The last I heard from VOA (Volkswagen of America) is that all the dealers will receive 1 new TDi that is only for customers to test drive and pre-order. Then in August, the TDi's will be mass shipped to all the dealers.

The only thing on maintenance that I know is VW has changed there oil standard, 507.00 is the new stuff (I've updated the sticky on VW oil specs and approved oils). The maintenance intervals should be the same as previous TDi's. I've heard fuel mileage should be mid 40's in town and mid 50's on the highway.

On another note, I'm no longer with VW. I'm now with Audi! We do have a VW dealership right next door and I will still be able to get info as they have the same owner.

Oh and on the oil stuff - yes, I only use Total Oils on my cars.

in diesel power this month the new jettas economy came way down to 27 in the city and 38 on the highway. thats the new 2.0 liter DOHC 16 Valve inline 4. the new touareg gets 15 in the city and 20 on the highway and produces 310 HP and 553 TQ with the 4.9liter twin turbo v-10. 0-60 in 705 seconds. it seems like the new diesels get less MPG because of the emissions just like the trucks. by the way my 05 passat gets 42 MPG so they are down a lot

Yeah we have the EPA (? I think) for emissions and ultra low sulfur diesel.
