Default 95' 2500 4X4 5 Speed having the shakes when braking

Hello All,

Like the title says I'm having issues with my truck with a shaking issue when I apply the brakes, and at low RPM lugging the truck in second, and third, this happens around 30 mph. Over the summer I had changed the brakes pads, and shoes all around, upgraded the rear wheel cylinders with the Chevy 3500 mod, I also replaced all the hardware as well.

I didn't drive the truck much this summer due to the floor pan being cut out, due to rust. And now with winter in full swing, driving my 63' D100 isn't practical, as an open rear-end, can not get out of an iced in parking space.

I have had the carrier bearing replaced, after the shop I brought it to put the wrong one in, and tore itself apart. U joints are all new, on all of the drive shafts, and axles. Wheel hubs are 2 years old 24K miles, with no play. Ball joints are new, Wheel bearings in the rear are new.

The shaking or vibrations that I am getting are coming from the rear axle. As it only happens at low rpms/ speed 30 mph, or applying the brakes coming to that speed. The steering wheel doesn't shake which leads me to believe that its the rear end.

I'm thinking that a re-balance of my 315 75 16 Goodyear's would be a good place to start. Next thing I could think of is the rear brake hose, has failed, its the only one that hasn't been replaced. The last thing I can think that would cause this shake would be the rear drums are out of balance, and either have them turned, or just get replacements.

Have any of you ever experienced this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey man! definitely start with the re balance, if its at a certain speed its likely harmonic from something that is rotating, so tires would be a good place to start. Do you feel the brake pedal bounce? Also I would double check that your tie rods are tight, sometimes with steering shimmy you cant feel it in the wheel. Driveline balance is another thought. My go to would be to get it up on the lift or some good jack stands and get it up to 30 and look for whats shaking. best of luck!
